Compare · Tented vs HubSpot

Everything HubSpot charges tolls for, Tented ships in the box.

Real marketing automation on HubSpot starts at Professional: $800/month billed annually, a mandatory $3,000 onboarding fee, and $45 per extra seat, before you add contacts. Tented includes full branching journeys, A/B testing, custom domains, and unlimited users from $25/month.

    The short answer

HubSpot Marketing Hub is a fine enterprise suite with a hard catch: the features that make it marketing automation (workflows, A/B testing, omnichannel journeys) require Professional at $800/month billed annually plus a mandatory $3,000 onboarding fee, and marketing contacts push the bill up fast (roughly $1,300/month at 10,000 contacts, $2,050 at 25,000). Tented includes full journeys, A/B testing, form-to-CRM capture, custom domains, and unlimited seats on plans from $25 to $75/month for the same list sizes, with AI that generates the campaigns. Unless you need HubSpot's sales and service hubs under one roof, the Marketing Hub math is hard to defend.

    Choose Tented if

you want real automation, AI-generated content, and a big database without an $800/month gate, per-seat charges, onboarding fees, or an annual contract.

    Choose HubSpot if

your company already runs HubSpot CRM for sales and service, you have budget for Professional or Enterprise, and consolidating on one vendor outweighs the cost.

    The send math, kept honest

Most platforms bundle send allowances of 10x, 12x, even 24x your contact count per month, and it reads like generosity until you translate it: 12x means emailing every contact 12 times a month. No list tolerates that. Even 10 emails per contact per month is aggressive, and healthy programs typically land between 2 and 6. Inflated multiples exist to make the contact meter, the thing that actually bills you, feel like a better deal.

Tented sizes sends and database separately so you pay for what you actually do: storing a contact is cheap, so database headroom is generous, and send tiers map to real cadences. The scenarios above assume roughly 2 to 4 emails per contact per month (an actively worked list), with the Tented tier chosen to cover both the audience size and the send volume.

Competitor pricing and packaging are published list prices as of August 2026, converted to monthly USD, and change often; check each vendor's pricing page for current details. Tented prices come straight from tented.ai/pricing.

    Seeing is believing

    What "AI-native" actually looks like

Not a sidebar assistant bolted onto a 2015 editor. Describe the outcome; approve the result. Click any screenshot to zoom.

Pages: chat on the left, your landing page rendering on the right. Every revision is a sentence.
Emails: the AI Email Studio writes, designs, and codes pixel-perfect HTML in your brand.
Journeys: triggers, branches, webhooks, and the Create Tent step that builds a personalized page per contact.
The Image Agent: ask for art and your logo is painted straight into the scene. No stock sites, no designer on retainer.
Import receipts: millions of contacts in, with created, updated, skipped, and failed counted per file. Migrations come with proof.
The Agent API: bulk endpoints mint personalized assets from one approved template. Docs your agents can read.

    The agentic era

Drag-and-drop was built for 2015. Tented is built for what's next.

Every platform on this page still centers on the same WYSIWYG editor marketers have been wrestling with for a decade: pick a block, drag it, nudge it, fight the mobile view, repeat. Tented starts from a different premise: you describe the outcome, and the platform builds it, on brand, in seconds. That difference compounds everywhere.

HubSpot's answer to the AI era is Breeze: capable assistants and agents, metered in credits, bolted onto a suite designed around forms and dashboards. Tented was born agent-first: the same 140+ API operations a human uses power any AI agent you point at it, on every plan, with approvals in your hands.

    Describe, don't drag

Pages, emails, and flows are generated and revised by chat. Iterating is a sentence, not a session. Two hundred plus templates ship with your brand already applied, so the first draft already looks like you.

Your agents get a marketing team

Everything a human can do in the app, an agent can do over the API, on every plan, including Free. Mint a key, hand it to Claude or Codex, and campaigns, audiences, and landing pages build themselves with approvals still in your hands.

    Personalization down to one

A Tented flow can generate a bespoke landing page for a single contact: enrich the contact over the API, pass the company's logo and context into the prompt, and the flow renders a page for that one prospect. No other platform on this page has that step.

Why teams switch from HubSpot to Tented

    Automation without the $800 gate

On HubSpot, welcome series, nurture drips, and abandoned-journey saves all require Professional: $800/month annually plus $3,000 mandatory onboarding. On Tented, full branching journeys, including AI steps that generate a personalized page per contact, ship on every plan, Free included.

    Unlimited seats, zero seat math

HubSpot moved to per-seat pricing in 2024: 3 core seats included on Pro, $45 for each additional. Tented never counts seats on any plan. Your agency, your exec team, your new hire: everyone's in.

    A bill that stays put

HubSpot contact-tier upgrades hit your invoice immediately; downgrades wait for annual renewal, and Pro/Enterprise lock you into yearly contracts. Tented is $25-$75/month for databases up to 1M contacts, monthly if you want, cancel anytime.

    AI included, not credit-metered

HubSpot's Breeze Agents consume HubSpot Credits at $10 per 1,000 on top of your subscription. Tented includes 100 AI credits/month on every paid plan with transparent costs (a full generation is 1 credit), and the AI does end-to-end work: pages, emails, images, journeys.

    Where HubSpot still fits

HubSpot is a genuinely excellent CRM company. If your sales team lives in HubSpot Sales Hub, your support team in Service Hub, and you want marketing attribution stitched across all three with enterprise reporting, buying Marketing Hub Professional keeps everything in one vendor and one data model. That consolidation is worth real money to some organizations. If what you actually need is marketing automation, you are paying enterprise-suite prices for features Tented includes at a tenth of the cost.

    Tented vs HubSpot: FAQs

What is the best HubSpot Marketing Hub alternative in 2026?

For marketing automation specifically, Tented: full branching journeys, A/B testing, form-to-CRM capture, and custom domains from $25/month, with no onboarding fees, no per-seat charges, and no annual contract, versus HubSpot's $800/month Professional gate plus $3,000 mandatory onboarding. Companies standardizing sales and service on HubSpot's CRM suite are the exception.

Is Tented cheaper than HubSpot Marketing Hub?

Dramatically. Real automation on HubSpot requires Professional at $800/month billed annually plus a mandatory $3,000 onboarding fee, and 10,000 marketing contacts pushes it to roughly $1,300/month. Tented runs full journeys at that list size for $50/month with unlimited users and no onboarding fee: about 96% less. Even HubSpot Starter ($15/seat) cannot run real workflows at any price.

Does HubSpot really gate marketing automation behind Professional?

Yes. The workflow editor (branching, omnichannel automation) is only available on Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise. Starter includes only simple single-trigger follow-ups, and no add-on unlocks workflows below Professional. On Tented, multi-step branching journeys are included on every plan, including Free.

What does Tented have that HubSpot doesn't?

Unlimited users on every plan, AI that generates complete on-brand campaigns and images, 1:1 AI-personalized pages per contact inside journeys, 200+ templates with your branding baked in, no onboarding fees or annual contracts, and a flat, predictable price. HubSpot counters with breadth: sales, service, and operations hubs that Tented does not try to be.

Can I move from HubSpot to Tented?

Yes. Export contacts and lists from HubSpot (CSV or API) and Tented's Fast List Import brings them over at roughly 250,000 contacts a minute, with custom fields for your HubSpot properties. White-glove onboarding, included with every plan, covers rebuilding your key workflows as Tented journeys, and you can keep HubSpot CRM for sales while Tented runs marketing over the API.

When is HubSpot the better choice?

When marketing automation is one piece of a company-wide HubSpot deployment spanning sales pipelines, support ticketing, and revenue reporting, and the budget assumes enterprise software pricing. If the marketing team is the buyer, Tented delivers the automation, AI, and pages for a fraction of the total cost of ownership.
